Blanes by night

Blanes is a small sea side resort whose main feature is its unique geographical situation, about 100km south of the French border. Last town in the south of the Costa Brava it enjoys numerous creeks typical of the Pyrenean relief with tiny sand beaches and marvelous crystal water on one side. On its other side from a small peculiar shaped rock which is the last part of the Pyrenees into the sea, Blanes has large directly accessible beaches undivided by the railways.

Blanes is an old port whose fishing activity remains essential, offering visitors a wonderful sight at dawn when its little flotilla puts out to sea and in the evening when the fish tasted in its restaurants is sold by auction. (Please, avoid “touristic” restaurants! ). However, tourism has become its main economic activity.

For one week at the end of July, the international fireworks competition is held on its beaches where different countries test their expertise at night surrounded by detonations.  This competition ends on July, 24, Santa Anna’s day, the patron saint of the village.

Every morning the fruit and vegetables market unfurls its local scents under the shade of the trees which line up the inner “Ramblas”.

A holiday resort, you will enjoy its sunny beaches and the varying and fine Catalan gastronomy.

Blanes is the best place for family holidays, as well as for people who like off season tranquility, and also for younger people either single or in couple who like party life.

Leaving it is the worst moment you’ll have there!!!
